West Sussex-based artist Georgina Lillywhite takes her inspiration, not from the mellow English countryside around her, but from the hot, vivid, vibrant landscape she encounters on regular trips to Barbados.
Georgina’s paintings are rich opulent acrylic on canvas. She uses strong vivid colours to capture the carnival atmosphere of the island. Using the multi-coloured foliage, scorching yellow skies and brightly patterned fabrics around her, Georgina brings her bustling market place and lazy beach scenes to life.
Having studied art at college many years ago Georgina has recently returned to her love of painting and is happiest experimenting with colours and textures bringing alive her stored visual and emotional memories of her visits to Barbados.
